MIGRATION ACTIVITIES

In April, 11,489 refugees and nationals were processed and moved under ICM auspices, bringing the cumulative total for this year to 41,163.

7,440 Indochinese departed from South East Asia, accounting for over half of the month's total movements. Their main destinations were the United States (4,927), Canada (834), Australia (825), France (248), the United Kingdom (175) and Germany (165).

The second largest group (2,283) was from Western Europe. The main destinations were the United States (1,084), Canada (653) and Australia (50). Also included were 107 repatriation cases to Uruguay (56), Chile (40) and Argentina (11).

In addition, 425 national migrants were moved of whom 165 went to Latin America. Also included were 182 Portuguese whose destinations were mainly Australia (108) and the United States (41).

The emigration of Soviet Jews registered 72 arrivals in Vienna. these, 21 proceeded to Israel and the others to Italy for processing to overseas immigration countries.
