Mr Ratford will be visiting Paris on 9 May for talks with the European Director at the Quai, M Plaisant. The main purpose of the meeting will be to review the whole range of Franco/British contacts and issues and to prepare the ground for the "mid-term review" of bilateral relations by Foreign Ministers (which is expected to take place in June/July). This will be the first such meeting since Mr Ratford's predecessor, Mr Jenkins, met M Plaisant in May last year.
