Cne of the purposes of this letter is to advise you of a possible communication from the ILO concerning the position of Hong Kong regarding Regional Conferences. I would also like to take this opportunity to enquire on the likelihood of the United Kingdom sending a delegation to the next Asian Regional Conference and whether it is technically possible for Hong Kong, through special arrangements with the ILO, to attend the conference even if the United Kingdom would not otherwise be sending a delegation.

Mr. Ron Bridge, the Commissioner for Labour, will be on holiday in London from 10th to 26th December 1983 and would be happy to discuss this question if you think this would be helpful. He can be contacted on 01 733 3464.

Yours faithfully,

D. J. Wilmshurst
