At Singapore, the average arrival processing time is 30 minutes. International travellers normally require 18 - 24 seconds for immigration clearance and 19 minutes for baggage reclaim. Customs clearance is said to be very smooth and fast.

With some reluctance, following information :
(a)
Malaysia, has given the
immigration processing time is between 1.5 to 2 minutes;
(b) baggage reclaim time varies from 10 to
to 45 minutes for wide bodied aircraft to 10 to 30 minutes for narrow bodied aircraft;
(c) customs clearance time is from 2 to 4
minutes.

Departments at the airport are doing all they can to provide a courteous yet efficient service, despite unconventional working hours, an austere working environment and a heavy workload. All complaints against individual officers are fully investigated. The number

remains small. Between January and September 1986, 12 complaints were directed against the Immigration service in respect of both arrival and departure clearance. One complaint only was made concerning the manner of an Immigration Officer. During the first six months of 1986, the Commissioner of Customs & Excise received five complaints. However, the departments concerned will continue to monitor and seek to improve the quality of services
provided.
