(i) The slip roads will be constructed too close
to Taikoo Shing Estate.
(ii) Resumption in Taikoo Shing will result in
a loss of amenity.
(iii) The present environment within the Estate
will be ruined,
(iv) There is no direct link road between Taikoo
Shing and the new tunnel.
Meeting between Government representatives and residents of Pine Mansion held on 13.3.86 to explain the scheme. It was explained that:
(i) due to physical constraints and design/safety
standards, the access ramps cannot be relocated further away from the Estate;
(ii) revised landuse proposals will more than
compensate for the loss of the area currently used as a car park, as there will be a net gain in open space;
(iii) there will be no significant change in the
environment within the Estate although those tower blocks nearest to the interchange may experience a rise in noise levels and a reduction in air quality level. Although the anticipated air quality is acceptable, noise- reducing measures will be incorporated to meet the recommendations of the Environment Chapter of the Hong Kong Planning Standards and Guidelines. The outlook from the towers facing the interchange will be enhanced by the redesignation of the large areas of the reclamation as open space;
(iv) direct link between Taikoo Shing and the tunnel
cannot be provided without a reduction in
engineering, traffic and safety standards. Existing access to the Cross Harbour Tunnel is unaffected, and adequate indirect access via
