NOISE ASSESSMENT
Introduction
2.1.1 Chapter 9 of the Hong Kong Planning Standards and Guidelines entitled "Environmental Guidelines for Planning in Hong Kong" published by the Hong Kong Government gives required standards for noise levels. These are:
Schools Dwellings
Noise Level 10 dB(A)(1 hour)
65
70
The 10 dB(A)(1 hour) is a measure of the noise occuring within а one hour period and is related to the maximum traffic flow occuring in this period.
2.1.2
The noise predictions were carried out by computer modelling adopting the methodology described in "Calculation of Road Traffic Noise", Department of the Environment, UK, 1975.
2.1.3
Where
In accordance with this method, the road sections of the IEC and tunnel approaches were segmented and the aggregated noise levels determined at the various reception points. appropriate, account was
taken of carriageway separation and corrections made for facade reflection.
