Re: Roads (Works, Use and Compensation) Ordinance (Chapter 370)
(Notice under section 8(2))
Eastern Harbour Crossing
On behalf of our client, the Canossian Missions, we wish to lodge an objection to the proposed road works shown on plan nos. RO/01 and RO/II to RO/16 under gazette for the following reasons:
1.
2.
3.
The present schools were part of the reprovision exercise carried out by the Government as a result of the Eastern Corridor Scheme in exchange for an existing school in Shaukiwan owned by our client. When this site was offered to our client back in 1981, it was noted from the town plan that the general neighbourhood is one of residential and light industry and our client consented to this exchange as they thought the schools would serve a residential neighbourhood. Enviromentally, the proposed plan alters completely the whole situation and would leave the schools sitting on the edge of a tunnel crossing.
The schools were built with normal Government Subsidized Schools Budget and no allowance had been made in the design to deal with ambient noise and the proposed tunnel crossing would increase the ambient noise to an unacceptable level for learning activities in the school compound.
It is also noticed that the proposed railway alignment is taking up half of the site belonging to our client and we would require more details from the Government to ascertain the effect of this.
Yours faithfully,
пийши
