12 November and 9 December 1985, you sent us a reply on 10.1.86
indicating that the Cha Kwo Ling Quarry and the strip of land between
the quarry and the sea were known to be required whichever company won
the franchise.
In other words, the required land has been confined
to the area mentioned above. This includes the Anderson Quarry, a
section of Cha Kwo Ling Road, the Crown land fronting the sea, the
cold storage of the Dairy Farm Company Ltd. and the site at 428
Cha Kwo Ling Road where Pak Yee Industrial Building stands. As all
village houses in Cha Kwo Ling lie outside the above area, they should
not be affected by the clearance.

According to the plan published by the government, the
landing of the Eastern Harbour Crossing passes through the cold storage
of the Dairy Farm Company Ltd. and runs across Cha Kwo Ling Road to
the quarry while the administration building and toll booths will be
constructed on the site of the Anderson Quarry. There is quite a great quat distance between the village houses and these structures.
The
MTR runs parallel to the crossing and the two meet at the side of
the Dairy Farm Company's cold storage to cross the harbour.
The only
village houses which may in any way be affected by the MTR works are
those commercial structures at 15G, 15D and 17 Cha Kwo Ling Main Street.
However, the Cha Kwo Ling section of this MTR line is planned to run
underground and therefore structures above it should not be affected.
The existing MTR lines already in operation over the Territory can
prove that structures above ground are not required to be cleared
except those situated at the proposed entrances/exits, station; and
elevated positions.
in Cha Kwo Ling.
Such policy should also apply to village houses
In view of the above situation, the village houses should
not be affected by the clearance exercise. It is not shown on the
plans that structures within the "works area" are required to be cleared.
