"Pung Stud" Compensation

The Chairman said that the Government was prepared to offer cash compensation for the villagers to perform "Tun Fu ceremony but if the villagers thought that some other remedial 'Fung Shui" installations were required they would have to submit a detailed application with strong justifications. Mr. CHU Yau-ming agreed.
Easement Compensation

Mr. F.J. Miller told the villagers that any person having a compensatable interest under the Roads (works, Use & Compensation) Ordinance because of the easement creation might serve a written claim upon the Secretary for Lands and Works once the Order for creation of easement was published and posted on site. These claims would then be processed by DLOSK.
Crop, tree and grave compensations

Mr. LAM Sin-hoi confirmed that compensation related to clearance of crops, trees and graves would be made in accordance with the current land clearance policy. He reminded that owners of those graves and "Kam Taps" discovered inside the clearance limit that fell within the district boundary of Sai kung should contact DLOSK and DOSK for the necessary removal work.
Reprovision of a Rain Shelter

Mr. Peter WAN said that the construction of the existing rain shelter was undertaken by the villagers themselves and the cost of construction was partly financed by the Government's LPW fund. The villagers insisted that the Government would have to re-provided them with a rainshelter. ifter much discussion, the representatives of JEDU agreed in principle to undertake the reprovision of a rainshelter at a location to be agreed by all concerned parties
Reprovision of a Footpaths

Mr. B.. Coultous promised the villagers that a new footpath would be reprovided before closure of the existing one.
Precaution Measures against Danages and Nuisance caused to the Villagers' Houses

After some discussions, it was made clear to the villagers that blasting operations associated with the tunnel works will be prohibited between 9 p.m. and 7 a.m. in the length of the tunnel below the village. It was also said by the villagers that if there were no vibrations or noise at the village during blasting then they would have no objection to blasting between 11 p.m. and 6 a.m.
The representatives of JBDC stated that they would arrange for (a) joint site inspection with the building contractor and the villagers to take record of the existing conditions of the villagers' houses for reference in dealing with complaints from the villagers during the construction period, and (b) install ing an equipment at Ma Yau Tong Village to check the extent of vibration caused b the blasting operations.
Maintenance of Water Source

The representatives of JBDC promised the villagers that fresh water supply in the area would be guaranteed during the whole construction period, supply of water would not be at the contractor's own cost as the supply of water will be written into the contract and the contractor will be paid through the contract for providing water, should it be necessary.
