The changes, which have been agreed with KCRC, will into effect on Friday 23 May, coincident with the opening of Sheung Wan station.

In view of the moderate increases which will be introduced, it is not expected that there will be any strong adverse public reaction.

The MTRC will arrange suitable publicity to announce the changes at an appropriate time, emphasising the following two points :-

(a) All adult single-ride and child/student

fares remain unchanged.

(b) The increase in fares for 1986 are

obtained through

the

reduction

in

discounts offered to adult users of Common Stored Value Tickets.

Members are invited to note the contents of this

memorandum.
