of the title deed from the bank (because of a mortgage). However
on 23rd June, 1984 we suddenly received a notice from the buyer
for the cancellation of this transaction as the other party
learnt from the Government Gazette-that a footbridge would be
built in front of our shop at Percival Street. Since then, we
have not come across another buyer. This fact is 100 percent
true. As the transaction could not be finalized, nothing had
been signed officially. Nevertheless, this can be proved by
various witnesses and documents involved in this transaction,
including the document for the borrowing of the title deed
from the United Chinese Bank Ltd. and the instruction papers
given to Messrs. Ford, Kwan & Co. in respect of this matter.

It will bring a long-term damage to the business of our trade :
According to the gazetted plan, the proposed footbridge will
start at grade in the immediate vicinity of our shop and extend
upwards to a considerable height along Percival Street and
across Eressy Road, thereby forming 2 barrier-like cover
along the road. The long-term adverse effects on the future
business of our shop are apparent.
(3) During the construction period, the above-mentioned two items
will be affected even more seriously. As it will cause congestion
to vehicular access and disturbances and nuisances like noise and
environmental pollution, our business will be affected and drop.
(4) When the footbridge is complete, our existing signboard will be
blocked, thus losing its own effect as a signboard. If we try to
display this signboard again, we have to alter its position
