Stewart Road Footbridge
I refer to your letter dated 1 October 1985 addressed to
Lands Department.
as follows
(i)
(ii)
In answer to the points raised in your letter, my advice is
the remaining width of 11 metres in Stewart Road adjacent to the proposed Stewart Road Footbridge will be more than adequate for both through traffic and setting down passengers. Vehicles can only
turn into Stewart Road from the one lane of inner Gloucester Road, and the entry width is ample;
the proposed footbridge landing will be located on the opposite side of Stewart Road to the Flower Lounge Restaurant;
(iii) the existing Tonnochy Road Footbridge is heavily
used and has inadequate width to allow free pedestrian flow during peak periods. The Stewart Road Footbridge is necessary to provide for the shortfall in existing capacity.
