(ii) destruction of the north-eastern corner of the building at the 1st and 2nd Floor Levels (i.e. the corner at the junction of Pottinger Street and Connaught Road Central.)
As a result of the wrongs mentioned in paragraph 1, the existing "WO" logo sign which denotes Wing On Group must be removed. The right of erecting such logo sign was acquired by the Wing On Group at the consideration of HK$8 million, and its removal will cause loss and damage.
If the footbridge were erected as proposed in your graving, it would pose security hazard to the banks namely Po Sang Bank and Hang Seng Bank situate at the lower floors of the Building and its adjacent Dulicing, Hang Seng Bank Building, the head office of Hang Seng Bank Limited. People could easily reach the canopy from the footbridge, break into both buildings As a at the second floor level and burgle the banks. matter of fact, both Hang Seng Bank Building and Wing On House are mutually accessible at the 2nd Floor Level.
The removal and demolition of the canopy facing Pottinger Street will also create unresolvable problems of relocation of the air-conditioning units now affixed on it. There will not be any other space at the Building available to accommodate such air-conditioning units. Undue difficulties and huge expenses will be required of the lower floor owners to maintain the air-conditioning they are at present enjoying.
The aesthetic value of the Building will also be seriously affected which may not be capable of compensation.
