of Connaught Road and Ancillary Roadworks, Pedder Street Underpass
We act for Office Buildings Management Limited, the manager of Wing On House, and also for the Owners' Committee of Wing On House, and are writing in response to Gazette Notice No.3420 of 1985 relating to the captioned roadworks.

Our client objects to both the works and the use of that part of the roadworks set out in the Gazette Notice as item (h), namely, the footbridge across Connaught Road Central and Pottinger Street. In this connection, we have already written to the Town Planning Board setting out some of the major grounds of our objection. A copy of this letter dated the 5th October, 1985 is annexed hereto for your reference.
The plans and drawings of the roadworks show that the construction of the footbridge would involve the removal and demolition of a portion of the existing canopy of Wing On House at the north-eastern corner of Connaught Road Central and Pottinger Street, and that the footbridge, at its completion, would abut onto that corner of Wing On House on the 1st and 2nd Floor level.
In addition to the grounds already set out in the copy letter annexed hereto, we would now add the following :-

As mentioned earlier, the right to erect the WO logo at northeastern corner of the building had been acquired by our client at the price of $1.4 million (contrary to our previous instruction which quoted $8 million, as in the copy letter). This logo is of great commercial value, tangible and intangible, to the owners of the building, and the loss resulting from its removal or relocation from that particular spot can not be fully compensated in monetary terms; ../2
