Modification will be made to the layby at Connaught Place east of Exchange Square and the two existing segregation islands thereat will be omitted.
The kerblines at the junction of Connaught Place and Harbour View Street will require modification as shown on plan and a segregation island will be added.
(1) Laybys on Connaught Road Central will be altered as follows:
(i) A new layby will be provided in front of Connaught Centre;
(ii)
The existing layby in front of Statue Square will be modified;
(iii) The existing layby immediately east of Douglas Street
will be omitted and replaced by a right-turn lane into Douglas Street; and
(iv) The existing layby immediately west of Douglas Street
will require modification.
(g) The two staircases on the north side of the Star Ferry Subway
and branch subway, as delineated red on plan, will be closed permanently. The eastern staircase will be replaced by a new one. The branch subway and the ramp on the north side, as delineated and hatched red on plan, will be closed temporarily during construction. The main subway, as delineated brown on plan, will be closed partially in width during construction. A temporary ramp will be constructed at the location of the existing betting centre on the east side of the north ramp to divert pedestrian traffic.
(h) The existing exits out of the bus terminus at Harbour View
Street, as delineated blue on plan, will be closed permanently. Before closure, two new exits will be provided as shown.
(i) The right-turn slip road at Pedder Street and between the
eastbound and westbound carriageways of Connaught Road Central, as delineated green on plan, will be closed permanently.
(j) The U-turn slip road of Connaught Road Central at Pedder Street,
as delineated orange on plan, will be closed and replaced by a slip road further east.
