The steam

carried by the water of the primary loop to the
secondary loop through 'inverted U tubes'.
There are more than 3,000 'inverted U
with a total length of some 70 kilometers.

The
main pump drives
primary loop water outlet
the
coolant at a rate of 22,000 tonnes an
hour. It is 8 meters high and weighs
90 tonnes.
The main pump is a centrifugal
pump. In order to prevent the leakage
of radioactive water it has three
shaft seals.
