Its Function in Eugenics
RIA has led to the establishment of the micro-detection of
the hormones related to reproduction (e.g. GSH, LH, HCG, etc.,
totalling more than 10), and has evolved into quite a complete
system. The detection of HCG can diagnose the ultra-early prog-
nancy
within 5-10 days from the date of menostasis, which is
impossible for the conventional method (that usually requires a
month). Besides, this method can also diagnose the extra-
uterine pregnancy (with a diagnostic rate of 98%), monstrum,
hydatid mole and threatened abortion.
To use RIA to measure the content of AFP in the amniotic
fluid of a pregnant woman can help to predict the congenital
deformity of fetus (e.g. dead fetus, brainless fetus, hydro-
cephaly, rachischisis, etc.). thus providing reliable scientific
basis for eugenics. The detection of thyroid hormone (T3, T
4)
and TSH in the serum of new-born infants can discover
mongolism at the early stage (diagnosa. rate exceeding 90%) and
cure it in time, so that thousands of children can be prevented
form becoming idiots.
Its Function in Drug Monitoring
The monitoring on the drug density in the blood of the patient
can guide clinical prescription, guarantee safety in applying
