Its Function in Measuring the Endocrine Hormone

The hormone secreted by the human endocrine gland is a high-

efficiency bio-active substance which plays its role in the

metabolism of organism, in regulating and controlling the growth,

development and the reproductive mechanism of the human body, and

hormone. The human body contains a large variety of endocrine

hormones; and the main hormones can roughly be summed up in

five classes: (1) various anterior pituitary hormones secreted

from the cerebral pituitary gland (e.g. TSH, FSH, LH, ACTH, etc.)

(2) related hormones secreted from the thyroid gland (e.g. T3 T4

etc.); (3) hormones secreted from adrenal cortex (e.g. cortisol,

aldosterone); (4) hormones secreted from the pancreas gland (e.g.

insulin, glucagon, etc.); and (5) hormones secreted from the

stomach and intestines (e.g. gastric secretion, cholecystokinin).

Any abnormality in the content of endocrine in the blood can

cause disease. For example, over-secretion of thyroid hormone

may lead to hyperthyroidism; while insufficient secretion thereof

may lead to hypothyroidism. Similar cases also happen to other

kinds of hormones. Therefore, the measuring of the content of

hormones in the blood can be employed to diagnose diseases,

check the endocrine function and to conduct basic medical science

research.
