In an interview with the overseas edition of the People's Daily published today, A Chinese nuclear expert, Zang Mingchang, said that a proposal by the head of HKU's science faculty, Poon Chung-kwong, to train local nuclear scientists to participate in the monitoring of the Daya Bay plant was a good idea.
Wednesday, October 1: China Light would have to seek approval from the Government before it could raise the tariff of electricity even though the cost of nuclear power had gone up in the future, the HK Economic Journal reported, quoting PAS for Economic Services John Wilson.
He did not think there was a need to change the present scheme of control governing China Light.
He said that the system of supplying electricity from the Daya Bay plant to HK would be treated as China Light's fixed assets. Therefore, the level of permitted profits for China Light would be raised accordingly.
