(b) An improved treatment of the effects of meteorology could be given if the following information was provided for each of the four seasons (or on

whatever basis is available).

Firstly, and most importantly, please supply information concerning the

duration of periods of rain. We do not need the number of hours of rain

per month (which we already have), but rather the typical duration of an

individual period of rain and the seasonal variations in such durations.

This information can be used to estimate the probability that rainfall would begin or end during the movement of the plume from Daya Bay to Hong

Kong (a period of a few hours).

Secondly, please supply information concerning the correlation of rainfall

with wind speed and/or stability category.

It is appreciated that reliable information of this nature may not be

available. Nevertheless, please supply the best estimates you can. The best possible information would be a year-long hourly record of the meteorological variables. If this, or anything remotely similar, is available, please supply it.

(c) In section 2.4, above, reference is made to the protection from external gamma irradiation afforded by the occupancy of homes and other

buildings. The assessments of this effect have been based on U.K. data

for the average fraction of their time people spend indoors and the shielding effectiveness of typical buildings. If possible, please supply comparable information for Hong Kong.
