Support systems

Main AC electric power system

Emergency AC electric power system

Safety related DC power system

Component cooling system ( safety related features ).

Safety equipment room cooling arrangements

Instrument air system

Ultimate heat sink arrangements + interfaces with component cooling.

General safety provisions

Provisions against internal fires Provisions against internal floods Provisions against external events

cable segregation etc

safe shutdown earthquake level

external flood

any others

Containment capability

Specification of the containment free volume, design pressure and (if available ) ultimate pressure capability.

Description of any special arrangements (eg controlled venting ) which vary from the normal arrangement of a large dry, non-vented PWR

containment.

Initiating Events

Information on initiating events if it is thought that the PWR

generic event frequencies would not be applicable to the Daya Bay plant. (for example different steam generator tube design )

Information detail

-

There is no exact specification of the information required on each system or general provision mentioned above. However, the following indications are given as to the level required to make full use of the pilot study capability.

Frontline systems

Information on the success criteria for standard accident situations (eg large LOCA, small LOCA, loss of feed) and the total system

capability (number of redundant pumps etc ).

Simple line diagrams of the essential process routes (Fig 1 gives an example of the level of detail which would be appropriate )

Description ( or diagram ) of the dependency upon support systems.

Requirements for manual actions in support of functions.

Support systems

Simple diagrams of main process/supply routes.

Redundancy vs success criteria information (where applicable ) Description of dependency on other support systems
