NNSA's monitoring of operational units

units and management departments of nuclear installations is inter-disposed among the

various stages of siting, design, construction, testing, operation and decommissioning.

The NNSA takes the stance of the nation and the people,

exercising independently its monitoring power on nuclear safety

according to the law and reports directly to the State Council.

The NNSA consists of the Office of Administration, the

Division of Regulations, the Division of Review and Licensing (1

and 2), the Division of Inspection, the Division of Research, the Shanghai Regional Inspection Office and the Guangdong Regional Inspection Office, undertaking the duties of setting regulations,

issuing licences, monitoring nuclear safety, law enforcement and

scientific research.

The Advisory Committee of Nuclear Safety is responsible

for giving advice on major technological issues concerning

nuclear safety. At present, the membership of the Advisory Committee consists of State councillors and 25 Chinese experts in

nuclear engineering, nuclear safety and other related fields.
