but not in the end to be led by it.

On (c) above Li said he hoped that Martin Lee would
"not overplay his hand". On (d), talking about the next
few years, Li referred to (i) the 1987 review, (ii) the
subsequent elections and (iii) the permanent arrival in Hong Kong of the JLG. He said nothing about delaying the
review or the like.
