Hope
(a) express appreciation for publicity given to

this will continue, and that it will help to

In addition to the ideas being
developed by NED (para 4 above), D.En have
suggested that the Chinese might send a team
of safety experts to the UK to visit the
Nuclear Installations Inspectorate, CEGB and
UKAEA and learn how the UK runs
independent safety inspection regime. We have just
just heard that five Chinese experts
are to visit EC countries (including UK) in
October, by invitation of the Commission, to
inform themselves on member states' safety
activities and to discuss what assistance
China might be given. We look forward to such a visit;
