The open hearing organized by the
UMELCO panel convened by the Hon. Maria TAM which was well covered by the media was watched carefully by our respondents. They did not think that the views presented by the representatives of the China Light and Power Company and the Hong Kong Nuclear Investment Company were convincing enough. The lack of a contingency plan in the event of nuclear power leakage was considered by our respondnets as the weakest part in the presentation. Without a convincing contingency plan, it would be difficult to reassure our respondents that their interest and safety are being taken care of by the parties involved in the construction of the nuclear plant.
