The Secretary of State and Monsieur Raimond took note of the Coordinators Review and passed benediction upon it. The Secretary of State said that the second reading of the Channel Tunnel Bill was now complete. Monsieur Raimond said that there were no problems on the French side. The Secretary of State referred to the Guangdong Nuclear Project and concern about nuclear safety in Hong Kong. Training in safety techniques would be very important. He also said that there was no great problem on discussions on Airbus and United States protectionism.

Monsieur Raimond recalled that the Secretary of State had raised with him at Chevening problems affecting visits of French nuclear submarines to British ports. He was going to take a serious look at this question.
