Dear Mr. Dell,
With reference to our discussion of 15 May 1986, I would like to inform you of the position as regards the 1986 contributions to the GATT budget resulting from the admission of Hong Kong as a contracting party to GATT, effective on 23 April 1986.
It is proposed that Hong Kong be assessed independently as from 23 April 1986 and that the contribution to be paid by the United Kingdom be adjusted in accordance with the following calculation:

assessment on Hong Kong in connection with its share in the international trade, i.e. 1.52 per cent of the total amount paid by all contracting parties on a pro rata basis as from 23 April 1986:

In order to regularize this matter the GATT secretariat has prepared the attached draft document for consideration by the Committee on Budget, Finance and Administration who will then make a recommendation to the Council of Representatives.
