Thank you for sending me a copy of your letter of 7 November to Rosemary Spenser. I am writing because of the news from Canberra that the Australians are giving such active encourage to a Chinese application for GATT membership.
Australian interests in this matter are understandably different from ours, both for political and commercial reasons. But even so I do wonder whether they have thought it through. I wonder if it would be worthwhile anyone having a quiet word with them: do you think?
