If the consultations do not lead to a satisfactory result, the contracting party which requested the consultations may suspend the application to Poland of such concessions or other obligations as it considers necessary.
In late 1982, the United States suspended application of MFN tariff treatment to Poland on the basis that Poland had failed to fulfil its import commitment and bilateral consultations had not led to a satisfactory result. This suspension of MFN tariff treatment remains in effect.
