Disaster recovery planning for Government computer installations

The Computer Committee has in December 1985 endorsed the proposed Disaster Recovery Plan and directed that a paper be submitted to the Chief Secretary's Committee (CSC) for policy clearance. A draft paper has been prepared by the Data Processing Manager for submission to the CSC in the coming month. Subject to CSC's approval in principle of the Plan, the Finance Committee
Committee of the Legislative Council would be asked to approve the necessary funds to implement the Plan.
Action is also being taken by the Data Processing Manager to draw up a plan to visit all government computer installations with a view to strengthening the existing preventive measures to minimize the chances of a disaster.

Paragraphs 6.6 6.15 Review of departmental procedures the calculation and recording of leave eligibility. Overstatement of leave earnings in certain departments
The Standing Commission on Civil Service Salaries and Conditions of Service wrote to the Governor in December 1985 and again in February 1986 making certain proposals on leave and passages which are now being considered by the Administration, in consultation where necessary with staff. Pending the
outcome of these deliberations, the introduction of the revised leave application forms and leave records service-wide has been held in abeyance. possibility of computerizing the existing leave record system is being studied in detail meanwhile.

Personal Emoluments. Service-wide review of the administration of job-related allowances
The Secretary for the Civil Service is continuing with the review of procedures for the authorization of job-related allowances. The review of shift duty allowance is nearing completion. Steady progress is being maintained in the review of extraneous duties allowance. Reappraisal of the hardship allowances for obnoxious duties and dangerous duties has also been started.
