Property prices and rentals in general appeared to be largely stable during the first half of 1986. The uptrend in prices and rentals for

rentals for most classes of residential flats

experienced in 1985 appeared to have stabilised in the first

half of 1986 (paragraph 5.5).

rentals for industrial property

Comparing the first half of 1986 with the first half

of 1985, the Consumer Price Index (A) increased by 2.6%, the

Consumer Price Index (B) by 3.2%, and the Hang Seng Consumer

Price Index by 4.7%. They showed different movements partly
