So to conclude: economic performance in 1986

has been better than expected. For the year as a

whole, it is likely that Hong Kong will enjoy moderate

economic growth, with low inflation and low

unemployment.

The recovery of the Govenment's

finances after a period of deficit is confirmed.

These achievements are attributable to the hard work

and enterprise shown by the people of Hong Kong in

responding to the opportunities and challenges in both

local and overseas markets. So far, so good.
