Reflecting the lagged effect of a strong recovery in domestic exports, employment in the manufacturing sector

registered a slight increase in June 1986 over June 1985,

reversing its declining trend (on a year-on-year comparison) since March 1985 (paragraph 4.6). Employment in the services

sectors also increased over this period (paragraph 4.8), while employment on building and construction sites remained stable (paragraph 4.7).

4.3

Comparing June 1986 with June 1985, earnings in the

manufacturing sector and in most of the services sectors, in

terms of payroll per person engaged, increased rapidly in money terms and in real terms (paragraphs 4.10 and 4.11).

Construction wage rates also showed some increase in real

terms (paragraph 4.12).
