I can assure you that we understand your wish to promote inward investment in Northern Ireland by every means open to you. But in the particular circumstances of Hong Kong we would much prefer it if the IDB could continue to channel their commercial publicity through the BTC. In any event we believe our staff there to be better placed than any private PR company to present the IDB's case in a sensible and efficient way in the local market.
I appreciate that your power to compel an independent body to toe the agreed Government line may be limited. But I should be grateful if you would use all the influence you can to restrain the IDB from undertaking the inappropriate independent PR effort in Hong Kong upon which they appear to be set.
