1. During the week of 21 July I have a meeting here of the Sino-British Joint Liaison Group on Hong Kong.
2.
Because of the Royal Wedding on Wednesday, 23 July, we have to start our meeting early. Both to provide a break, and to give the Chinese a suitable glimpse of London pageantry, I am very keen that the Chinese team should have a chance to see the Royal Wedding procession.
3. I had hoped to be able to borrow Mr Braithwaite's room for this purpose. (It is already being used by the Hong Kong delegation during the talks.) Unfortunately, the room is being used for a party given by Mr Hurd. Would you be prepared to allow a group of Chinese, and British hangers-on, to invade your office briefly on that day for the furtherance of Sino-British cultural contacts?
