Visit of Mr Grylls MP to Japan and Hong Kong
Mr Grylls telephoned today to say that he will visit Japan from 12-21 February as the guest of the Japanese Trade Asssociation (?Jetra). He will then go on to Hong Kong for about 5 days.
Mr Grylls asked only that we should inform the Embassy in Tokyo that he would be there; but it is clear that he expects them to take the initiative of offering some contact with him. I understand that separate arrangements have been made for him to receive from FED some general
background briefing. He was not yet able to give me a contact address in Tokyo, but thought that Jetra would be able to supply this direct to the Embassy.
Hong Kong be alerted to his impending visit.
Mr Grylls did not specifically ask that the Governor of
HKD may nevertheless wish to consider whether this would be wise and whether some background briefing on Hong Kong mattters would be helpful for
