Dear Colvyn,
Thank you very much for our meeting last week. I am very grateful to you for your help and advice. I am looking forward to my next visit to Hong Kong which will be on 5 and 6 May and I am at present available for any political appointments all day and evening on 5 May and lunchtime and 3 pm on 6 May. I will be most grateful therefore if your colleagues in Hong Kong could arrange meetings for me with senior members of the Hong Kong Government including if possible the new Trade Commissioner and/or his deputy. I would also be extremely, grateful if the possibility exists, and should you find that it is appropriate and feasible, for my senior full time colleagues at Dixons.

I appreciate the difficulties that might arise in this context, the Deputy Governor and the Chief Secretary or another similar high ranking officer of the HKG.
In this context I am thinking particularly of Mr Stanley Kalms, the Chairman and Chief Executive of Dixons Group plc and Mr Mark Souhami, the Chairman and Chief Executive of Dixons Retail Divison and Chairman of Dixons Far Eastern Division, the latter more frequently passing through Hong Kong. This might be more practicable for obvious reasons if I am there as well and at the moment there is a good chance that Mr Souhami may be present in Hong Kong on the dates I have mentioned above. In the meantime he will be visiting Hong Kong with three days there on 3, 4 and 5 March and so any good offices that you were able to extend through your local colleagues will be enormously appreciated by him and by myself.
As I mentioned to you we are expanding our interests at the moment in Hong Kong and taking on additional employees whilst moving into new premises shortly near to the existing premises. The address of Dixons Stores Group (Far East) Limited is 706 Nanyang Commercial Bank Building, 151 Des Voeux Road, Central Hong Kong and the local Managing Director there is Mr Ray Cooke who met your Deputy Trade Commissioner last Autumn.
Finally I will be in touch with Stephen Lamb soon on the more detailed aspects of my visit on 5/6 May.
