1. Mr Waddington would like to visit the Sub Continent
between 15 and 23 September stopping over in Islamabad,
New Delhi and Dhaka. He will then go on to Hong Kong.
He last visited the Sub Continent in September 1983
and the Home Secretary regards it as important that the
Minister responsible for immigration should be seen by
all the staff and should himself see Ministers and
officials of the foreign governments concerned reasonably
often.
2.
Grateful for views on whether the visit would
be useful and acceptable locally and would not clash
with other visits and that those whom he might wish
to see would be available. At present we are only.
