MR WADDINGTON'S VISIT TO THE INDIAN SUB CONTINENT AND HONG KONG: SEPTEMBER 1986
Thank you for your letter of 9 July.
This is an interesting idea and we are consulting
posts in the Sub Continent about the timeliness
of the visit to ensure that there are no competing
events. As you will know the Indian Sub Continent is
a very sensitive area in relation to a number of
items in the race relations and immigration field
and it may be necessary to be especially careful about
this visit.
3.
We are also consulting the Acting Governor of
Hong Kong about that part of the visit. When posts
have responded I will write to you again.
4.
We shall be pleased to nominate a Foreign Office
official to accompany Mr Waddington.
