6. Cameroon. I understand that a further visit by a junior Minister would be supported by OT4 and FCO/WAD. WAD has suggested a number of sub-Saharan African countries with which the visit might be linked; i.e. Ghana, Sierra Leone and Senegal. It may also be possible to link the visit with Zaire. Ian Lewty (FC0/ CAFD) raised with Bernard Everett (OT4) the possibility of a visit by a Transport Minister in 1986, but it was agreed that a visit could not be undertaken this year as there were no other countries in sub-Saharan Africa which Transport
Ministers were to visit.
7. Copies of this letter go to John Hall (OT2/2), Kester George (OT3/5), Michael Petter (OT4/1), Bernard Everett (OT4/3), Ronald Nash (FC0/EED), Jim Poston (FCO/SAD), Iain Orr (FC0/FED), Richard Fell (FCO/STAD), Antony Layden (FC0/HKD), Ian Blackley (FCO/MED), Maeve Fort (FCO/WAD), Ian Lewty (FCO/CAfD) and Bob Buist (FRO/TRED). I
would welcome their early views.
If you think we could clear this more quickly at an early meeting perhaps you will give me a ring. If I am not here, Kevin Deadman on 212 5248 will take a message.
