A. I would like to ask Mr Zhou Nan, an expert on

Hong Kong affairs to answer this question.

Zhou Nan.

In the past year since the signing of the (joint)

Sino-British Declaration on Hong Kong the agreement has

been on the whole implemented satisfactorily thanks to

the joint efforts of both sides. The Sino-British Joint

Liaison Group established in accordance with the joint

declaration has met three times and discussed matters and

reached agreement in these matters.

The Sino-British land- commission committee has met

for 9(?) sessions and much progress has also been made in

this work.

The Chinese government is determined to fully

implement the Sino-British declaration to the letter and

it is our belief that this conviction of ours is shared

by the British government.

We have every reason to believe that the

Sino-British Joint Declaration will be thoroughly

executed.

Thank you.
