and textile fibres recorded substantial increases in the
fourth quarter of 1985 over the same perioa in 1984. On the other hand, imports of petroleum and relatea products, and live animals showed moderate decreases.

The decline in both Hong Kong's domestic exports and re-exports to China, coupled with a marked recovery in imports from China, resulted in a visible trade deficit of
HK$4,093 million with China in the fourth quarter of
1985.
In consequence, Hong Kong's visible trade surplus
with China in 1985 was reduced to HK$2,250 million, from
HK$6,343 million recorded in the first three quarters.
