ELIZABETH THE SECOND, by the Grace of God of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and of Our other Realms and Territories Queen, Head of the Commonwealth, Defender of the Faith.
TO ALL TO WHOM THESE PRESENTS SHALL COME, GREETING!
Know Ye that We have declared and by these Presents do declare Our Will and pleasure as follows
1.-(1) These Our Letters may be cited as the Hong Kong Letters Patent 1986 and shall be construed as one with the Hong Kong Letters Patent 1917 as amended (hereinafter called "the principal Letters Patent").
(2) The Hong Kong Letters Patent 1917 to 1985 and these Our Letters may be cited together as the Hong Kong Letters Patent 1917 to 1986.

These Our Letters shall be published in the Hong
Kong Government Gazette and -
2.-(1)
(a) Article 2 shall come into operation on
= September 1986;
(b) Article 3 shall come into operation upon the
date of such publication.
The principal Letters Patent are amended by deleting the words "seven persons" in paragraph (1)(c) of Article VI and substituting there for the words "eleven persons".
Citation, construction and commence- ment
(2) The amendment of Article VI by this Article shall not affect the validity of the appointment of any person appointed an official member of the Legislative Council which is subsisting immediately before the commencement of this Article.
3. The principal Letters Patent are amended by deleting the words "in Our name and" in paragraph (1) of Article XIII.
4. We do hereby reserve to Ourself, Our Heirs and Successors full power and authority to amend or revoke these Presents.
