ΤΟ LETTERS PATENT GOVERNING GRANTS OF LAND IN
Problem
1.
Should we clear in advance with the Palace our
proposal to amend the Letters Patent so that grants of land in Hong Kong are no longer made in Her Majesty's name?
Recommendation
2.
I recommend that you write to Sir William Heseltine
on the lines of the attached draft. Legal Advisers
concur.
Background
3.
This is in the draft. We intend to submit this
proposed amendment, together with an amendment to the Hong
Kong Royal Instructions, to the Privy Council meeting on 8
July. Before we do so Legal Advisers have suggested that
should write to the Palace to confirm that they see no
objection to the proposed amendment on land grants.
