An Ordinance to amend the Oaths and Declarations Ordinance.

Enacted by the Governor of Hong Kong, with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council thereof.

1. This Ordinance may be cited as the Oaths and Declarations (Amendment) Short title and Ordinance 1986 and shall come into operation on a day to be appointed by the commencement. Governor by notice in the Gazette.

2. Section 16 of the principal Ordinance is amended by inserting, after Amendment of paragraph (c), the following—

"(ca) the Executive Council Oath;".

3. Section 18(1) of the principal Ordinance is amended by deleting "Oath of Amendment of Allegiance and the Oath of Fidelity" and substituting the following—

section 18.

"Oath of Fidelity and either the Oath of Allegiance or the Executive Council Oath".

4.

Section 22 of the principal Ordinance is amended by deleting subsection (2) Amendment of and substituting the following—

section 22.

"(2) No member of the Executive Council shall be required to take the Oath of Allegiance or the Executive Council Oath if he has taken-

(a) the Oath of Allegiance or the Executive Council Oath upon previous

appointment to the Executive Council; or

(b) the Oath of Allegiance upon previous appointment or election to the

Legislative Council.".

5. The Second Schedule to the principal Ordinance is amended by inserting, Amendment of after Part III, the following-

"PART IIIA

Executive Council Oath

Second Schedule.
