REGISTRY Action Taken

Sing Pao: The most urgent task for the BLDC and the BLCC is to come up with a draft on HK's future political system at an earlier date for public discussion and

consultation.

SCMP: The announcement of the wide-ranging membership of the BLCC is a timely palliative to the worrying remarks made last week by Xu Jiatun. Judging from the background of some committee members, Peking has gone out of its way to be seen to encompass all shades of opinion.

HK Standard: The BLCC membership is a fairly good mix.

The Oriental Daily News: The Government do not want officers from the Police, ICAC and Customs and Excise to mix with

BLCC members.

Wen Wei Po: Eleven civil

servants are on the BLCC but more civil servants of even higher ranks would have joined had they not be influenced by some factors.

(report) A source quoted by Wen Wei Po: As the BLCC does not inlcude any Exco member, secretary- level official or officer from the disciplinary forces, the BLCC convenors will consider inviting people from these categories as

advisors to ensure that

their views will be reflected.

A Government spokesman quoted by TVB and a few papers: The 11 civil servants on the BLCC have all been given permission by the Government to join.

A few papers: Senior Legco Unofficial Lydia Dunn was on the BLCC invitation list but she turned down the offer.

PAS for Economic Services Wilfred Wong: He will pay

more attention to

provisions of the Basic Law concerning future
