Chinese BLDC member Wu Jianfan: When the NPC Standing Committee exercises its power to interpret the Basic Law, its interpretation should

not overrule verdicts which have already been passed by the SAR

courts.

Chinese BLDC member Shao Tianren: It will not be possible to divide the Basic Law into two portions with the one dealing with HK affairs interpreted by local courts and the rest interpreted by China.

BLCC secretary general Mao Junnian: The BLCC, being a non-government body, is in no position to provide an official English translation of BLDC documents.

representatives from

China and HK should be formed to handle problems arising from the interpretation of the Basic Law.

(report) The BLCC would hold meet-the-public sessions on July 26 and August 9. A series of public hearings would be held next month. Each of the eight BLCC special groups would organise its own public hearing.
