THE URBAN COUNCIL (AMENDMENT) ORDINANCE 1986
(No. 9 of 1986)
This Ordinance amends the Urban Council Ordinance to bring it into line with the Regional Council Ordinance. It follows the re-alignment of the boundary between the urban areas and New Territories along the electoral boundaries for the District Boards and the renaming of these areas as "Urban Council area" and "Regional Council area", and restates the area of responsibility of the Urban Council.
2. The Urban Council Ordinance is also amended to make it clear that the Urban Council is not and never has been a servant or agent of the Crown.
3. Before the Governor assented to the Bill in the name and on behalf of Her Majesty, the Attorney General advised that he could properly do so.
