may then issue the licence subject to conditions,
which are monitored by the Radiation Health
Unit of the Medical & Health Department as
necessary.

After obtaining a licence from the Radiation
Board, the importer must then apply to the

Department of Trade for an import licence under
section 31 of the Import (Radiation) (Prohibition)
Regulations. Before the licence is issued, the
Department of Trade must satisfy itself that
the importer is a licensed company approved by
the Radiation Board to deal in radioactive
substances.
In addition, an importer is required to obtain
a removal permit from the Labour Department
under Regulation 7 of the Radiation (Control of
Radioactive Substances) Regulations. The permit
specifies the person authorised to move the
radioactive substances, the place to which
they are to be moved and the date of removal.
