(7) SS(KE)'s reply to Mr. C.Y. Lee's question that it was unlikely that hawkers at Mut Wah Street would be resited to the Shui Wo Street Market Complex; that, however, the Kwun Tong District Board was now pressing for a Market Complex at Hip Wo Street; that the Department would review the need for a second Market Complex in Kwun Tong after the Shui Wo Street Market Complex was opened; that the hawkers at Mut Wah Street might be resited to the Market Complex at Hip Wo Street if approvat was given for that project to go ahead;
(8) Mr. C.Y. Lee's point that even Mr. Cheng was able to keep his fixed pitch licence, it was very unlikely that he could get a pitch inside the Shui Wo Street Market Complex;
(Mr. Cheng left at 12.35 p.m.)
(9) SS(KE)'s report that when he visited the pitch recently, he found a girl at Mr. Cheng's pitch and the pitch was used as a storage area for slippers; that the girl had told him that the slippers belonged to Madam CHAN King, who was a relative of Mr. Cheng and the pitch had been used by Madam Chan for storing her goods for more than a year; his view that the girl was telling the truth but it was difficult to prove that Madam Chan was a relative of Mr. Cheng;
(10) SS(KE)'s reply to Mr. C.Y. Lee's question that
47 pitches in Mut Wah Street Playground were being operated and there were a total of 98 vacant pitches;
(11) the Chairman's remark that as Mr. Cheng had no
intention to operate his pitch, the decision to cancel his licence should be upheld; Members' CONSENSUS.
AGREED to recommend to the Markets and Street Traders Select Committee that the previous decision to cancel Mr. Cheng's licence should be upheld.
